Tour de Georgia kicked off Tuesday with Austen Hutto and Anna Hancock's visit to the set of Extreme Makeover Home Edition. The William's family (Jeremy, Jennifer, Josie, and Jacob) of Pine Mountain Valley, GA have been selected to be the Finale house for the 2010 season. At birth the son Jacob was diagnosed with Spina Bifida(a birth defect in which the backbone and spinal cord do not close before birth), and then some years after, the father Jeremy was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease(a disease of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement).
The house will be the largest modular home the company has ever built (roughly 4,100 square feet). At the time of our visit, the east hallway and both the son and daughter's bedrooms had been installed. Also, the foundation for the rest of the home was being completed. Work continues around the clock as the hundreds of volunteers change in and out. The revealing of the new house to the family will be on Saturday morning.
The "real" family from the movie Blind Side made an appearance on Monday; and while we were at the constuction site, the rumor was Sandra Bullock was supposed to be on her way.
